Co-op Academy in Manchester is in lockdown after three people were reportedly stabbed in a ‘serious incident’.

Around six police cars are at the scene in Blackley, with a helicopter hovering above as an ambulance treats the victims.

Students are sheltering in their classrooms, parents said, as police respond to the incident.

Police said a schoolgirl has been arrested, but the victims injuries aren’t believed to be ‘serious’.

‘Emergency services remain on scene, and we are supporting the school. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the pupils and staff in the school,’ the police said.
