Just when the Bears might’ve spiraled into their bye week with a brutal loss, they escaped on a blocked field goal. Josh Blackwell sealed the 25-24 victory over the Raiders by racing in from the left side to foil Daniel Carlson’s 54-yarder.
Here’s how it unfolded in Vegas:
Heartbreak averted
The Bears usually are on the wrong side of fantastic finishes, but not this time. As Carlson launched a kick that could’ve crushed them, Blackwell made the play of his career to deflect the would-be winner.
Mr. Clutch
Quarterback Caleb Williams never quite clicked but came through at the end. On the go-ahead drive, he went 4-for-5 for 42 yards and scrambled twice for 18 yards.
Crosby goes wild
The Bears were right to be worried about Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. He created constant pressure and had an interception, a forced fumble and three tackles for loss.
