Three youths arrested in connection with Livermore burglary spree

LIVERMORE — Three Livermore youths — ages 12, 14 and 15 — have been arrested in connection with nearly 50 automobile burglaries in the city, police said.

The burglaries happened between May 5 and June 3, according to the Livermore Police Department.

The suspects smashed windows to steal items such as USB drives, sunglasses and wallets, police said.

Police used surveillance footage to help identify the suspects. Warrants were then served at their homes, where some of the stolen property was recovered, according to police.

Officers arrested the youths on June 10. All three were cited and released to their parents, police said, adding that Alameda County Juvenile Hall would not take them due to the nonviolent nature of the alleged offenses.

The case has since been referred to prosecutors for review and charges, according to police.

Police are investigating whether the group is responsible for additional burglaries and vehicle thefts in the city prior to May 5.
