BGUK_3213268 – Stockton-On-Tees, UNITED KINGDOM – A child has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog in a North East town. The youngster was taken to hospital with arm and head injuries after the incident in Hardwick, Stockton-On-Tees, Teesside. The youngster, believed to be aged between two and three years old, was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees suffering from head and arm injuries which have been described by police as not life-threatening. Officers were called to Chopwell Close, in Hardwick, following the shocking incident this afternoon Police seized the animal and have taken it to specialist kennels, while officers and scenes of crime experts investigate. The breed of the dog has not been confirmed by authorities but witnesses report it being a pitbull cross. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police, said: “Police were called to a property on Chopwell Close in Hardwick, Stockton, this afternoon after it was reported that a child had been attacked by a dog. Officers attended the scene and secured the dog safely, without any harm to the animal, and removed it from the premises. The dog has been taken to specialist dog kennels.” One passerby said the dog had bitten the child’s arm and scalp and added: “There were loads of emergency services as I was walking past, and the bairn was taken to hospital, it looked really bad. A TODDLER has been mauled by a dog in a horror attack at a birthday party.
The young child, believed to be between two and three years old, was rushed to hospital this afternoon for head and arm injuries.

The attack took place in Hardwick, Stockton-On-Tees, Teesside and the toddler was swiftly taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.
Officers were called to Chopwell Close following the incident and seized an animal.
It has been taken to specialist kennels, while officers and crime experts investigate.
Police are yet to confirm the breed of the dog, but witnesses reported seeing a Pitbull-cross.
