A woman was charged with child endangerment after a 4-year-old boy was placed in a trash can and outside when it was only 19 degrees, according to city police and officials.
On Thursday, 58-year-old Anna Petrou was in court, charged with misdemeanor endangering the life of a child and released pending a future court date, Homewood police said.
About 1 p.m. on Jan. 13, Petrou was working at a Homewood day care in the 18700 block of Dixie Highway when she allegedly put the boy in the alley for 20 seconds while the temperature was about 19 degrees, police said.
Petrou, of Homewood, then brought the boy inside and placed him in an empty garbage bin as a “form of punishment,” officials said.
This is a developing story, check back for details.
