Several people including a child are dead and dozens are trapped after a tour bus collided with a lorry in upstate New York.
Some 52 people were aboard the bus which crashed while traveling from Niagara Falls to New York City on Friday, according to police.
The bus fell to its side off of the Interstate 90 near Pembroke.
Images show emergency services trying to rescue those trapped in the overturned bus.
Other passengers were also ejected from the bus as it crashed, James O’Callaghan from the NYSP told reporters.
The driver of the vehicle has been found alive.
He said the bus then continued to roll, with many of those inside not having their seatbelts on.
It is not known how the bus lost control, but it ended up in the median, before overcorrecting and falling into the ditch.
Traffic is backed up for miles as helicopters land at the scene.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul wrote on X: ‘I’ve been briefed on the tragic tour bus accident on the @NYSThruway.
‘My team is coordinating closely with @nyspolice and local officials who are working to rescue and provide assistance to everyone involved.’
New York State Attorney General Letitia James called the crash ‘heartbreaking’.
‘I’m praying for everyone impacted. Grateful to our first responders on the scene working to rescue and help people.’
