President Donald Trump’s homeland security secretary dubbed ‘ICE Barbie’ was hospitalized due to an allergic reaction.
Kristi Noem, 53, was taken to a hospital in Washington, DC, ‘out of an abundance of caution’ on Tuesday, according to her Department of Homeland Security.
‘Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today,’ stated Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
‘She is alert and recovering.’
What type of allergic reaction Noem suffered and how it happened was not immediately known.
Several Secret Service agents stood outside the hospital emergency room, CNN reported.
Noem requested an ambulance and was taken in one, according to the news outlet.
She returned to DC after holding a press conference in Los Angeles last week to address protests against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the California city.
Noem defended US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and was interrupted during her conference on Thursday by Democratic Senator Alex Padilla. Padilla was forcefully removed from the room and handcuffed.
Those are not the only incidents Noem has faced lately.
On Easter Sunday, Noem’s Gucci handbag which she had near her feet while dining at Capital Burger in DC was snatched by a thief.
