Two Livermore wineries received national acclaim this week.
The Zoe Report named Darcie Kent Estate Winery and Rosa Fierro Cellars on a list of the top 10 women-owned wineries in the United States.
Darcie Kent Estate, now in its sixth generation of winemaking, was ranked No. 2 for its “perfect blend of art, wine and community in Livermore Valley.” The estate was praised for its consistent high quality and creativity in its winemaking, while celebrating Darcie’s artwork throughout the estate.
“Darcie remains our vintner and artist, walking the vineyards daily and capturing their spirit through her vibrant label paintings,” the Darcie Kent Estate said in a statement.
Kent’s daughter, Amanda, is now the president of the winery, while her other daughter, Kailyn, is a label designer.
Livermore’s Rosa Fierro Cellars was ranked No. 3 for its “friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere” and a lively tasting room experience the report referred to as “sassy but classy.”
Founder Rosie Fierro said owning her own winery has been a dream come true and she praised the women of the Livermore Valley wine community.
“We have a higher percentage of women-owned wineries and winemakers than in other areas throughout the U.S.,” she said. “And we are proud of the collaboration and support we give to one another as women in this industry.”
Of the 10 wineries on the list, eight were from California and two were from Oregon.
“Livermore taking both the No. 2 and No. 3 spots is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to our community’s dedication to women winemakers and leaders who collaborate, uplift and celebrate one another,” Darcie Kent said.
