Homeless man staying in a garage shot, police say
WEST JORDAN — Two men died Sunday evening in a shooting in West Jordan, police said.
The shooting occurred in a garage near 7000 S. Callie Drive, said West Jordan police officer Scott List.
A family that lives at the home had taken in a man experiencing homelessness. He was staying in the garage, said West Jordan Police Lt. Chaundra Edmonds. She said a friend of the man came over, after which the homeowner heard gunshots and called 911.
When police arrived, they found one man dead and another man in critical condition. The second man died later Sunday evening.
Police recovered a gun at the scene, List said, and do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.
The victims’ names were not immediately available.
The deaths were being investigated as a double-homicide, according to Edmonds. But she said police were also looking into the possibility that the shooting was a murder-suicide.
Drugs and alcohol were also being considered possible factors in the deaths, Edmonds said.
