Universal Studios Hollywood expands security bubble to include CityWalk

Universal Studios Hollywood has created a wider security bubble that now includes CityWalk and aligns the movie theme park with safety procedures at Universal Orlando and the Disneyland resort.

A pair of new metal detection hubs opened on Wednesday, June 17 along the perimeter of the outdoor shopping mall next to the theme park.

Visitors arriving at the Frankenstein parking structure and valet dropoff area will use the existing security gates in front of the Universal globe near the main theme park entrance.

The Jurassic parking structure and visitors riding the shuttle up the hill from the Metro station will use the new security checkpoint behind NBC Sports Grill and Brew.

The E.T. parking structure and rideshare arrivals will use the new security hub next to Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.

The new security protocols align Universal Studios Hollywood with other theme park destinations that push screening checkpoints away from front entrances and closer to parking structures.

Universal Orlando has security checkpoints with metal detectors and bag inspections before entering CityWalk.

The security perimeter for the Disneyland resort starts at the two main parking structures and includes the two theme parks and the Downtown Disney outdoor shopping mall.
