Update: Beach hazards statement issued for Los Angeles County beaches from Saturday to Monday

Malibu, Los Angeles County Beaches, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast and Ventura County Beaches are included in an updated beach hazards statement issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 12:07 p.m. The statement is valid from Saturday 8 a.m. until Monday June 15, at 8 p.m.

The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA informs, “Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet on south facing beaches expected.”

“There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore,” according to the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.”
