Urgent recall of baby bottle cleaner over fears it could contain insects

Milton International SAS has urgently recalled several batches of cleaner over concerns that it has been contaminated.

Insects were found in bottles of the brand’s 500ml baby bottle washing-up solution, resulting in it being pulled from shelves.

In a statement, Milton told customers: ‘The safety of babies and the trust of parents are our highest priorities so we want to be open with you about a recent issue with Milton Baby Bottle Cleaner and what we have done about it.

‘We identified the presence of insects in a small number of UK Milton Baby Bottle Cleaner bottles.

‘As soon as we became aware, we removed the affected products from sale and began a full investigation.

‘This included conducting laboratory microbiological testing according to ISO Standards– which confirmed there is no risk to babies’ health or safety.’

The cleaner is widely sold in shops such as Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Asda, and more for around £3.

Milton added: ‘We are working closely with our partners to restore supply as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.’

The brand is advising anyone with an affected bottle to contact customer services for further information.
