Urgent search for two girls, 13 and 14, last seen at leisure centre

An urgent search has been launched for two teenage girls who disappeared from a leisure centre.

Sofia, 13 and Carla, 14 were both last seen in school uniform at around 4.45pm on Thursday near Abraham Moss Library in Crumpsall, Manchester.

Sofia is described as possibly wearing glasses, with a slim build and with long dark hair.

She was last seen wearing St Monica’s School’s PE polo top, black shorts and black shoes.

Carla is around 5ft 4in tall with long dark hair in braids, Greater Manchester Police said.

She was wearing a blazer from St Monica’s School, a black puffer coat and school shoes.

The pair were known to frequent Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.

A spokesperson for GM Police said: ‘Sofia and Carla are thought to be together and are known to frequent Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester and around the Printworks area.

‘Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of Sofia and Carla and want to ensure sure they are safe and well.’

Online users reacted to the police appeal for information.

One wrote: ‘This is terrifying. I truly hope they are found safe and well soon.’

Another said: ‘Omg. Such a worry. The possibilities are heartbreaking for their families. Hope they’re having a little happy girly adventure without thinking of the worry they are causing and are both home soon.’
