The El Dorado Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified the eight deceased victims of the boating tragedy at Lake Tahoe on Saturday, when an unusual summer storm led to 8-foot waves and 45 mph gusts of wind.
The sheriff’s office said the victims are Paula Bozinovich, 71, from Redwood City; Terry Pickles, 73, from Redwood City;Joshua Antony Pickles, 37, from San Francisco; Peter Bayes, 72, from Lincoln, Calif.; Timothy O’Leary, 71, from Auburn, Calif.; Theresa Giullari, 66, from Honeoye, New York; James Guck, 69, from Honeoye, New York; and Stephen Lindsay, 63, from Springwater, New York.
Jordan Sugar-Carlsgaard, the widow of Joshua Pickles, released a statement remarking on the loss of her husband and members of his family.
“We are devastated by this tragedy. We lost my loving husband, Josh Pickles, his parents, Terry Pickles and Paula Bozinovich, and Uncle Peter Bayes, as well as friends in this tragedy,” Sugar-Carlsgaard wrote. “No words can express the pain and anguish we feel knowing their lives were lost during what was meant to be a joyful time on the lake. Our hearts go out to those who tragically lost their lives and the two survivors of this unexpected and deadly storm on Lake Tahoe.”
