Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from March 25-30.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Alec Blair, De La Salle baseball: The junior standout went 3 for 4, scored a run and knocked in a run to lead De La Salle to a 9-4 nonleague victory over St. Francis. In two games since returning from a knee injury suffered during the basketball playoffs, Blair is batting .571.
Micah Boo, American baseball: The sophomore left-hander pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts to help lead American to an 8-1 league victory over Mission San Jose. In two games during the week at the plate, he was 3 for 8 with a double and drove in three runs.
Eric Carbajal, Christopher lacrosse: The junior scored two goals and assisted on another as Christopher rolled to a 12-3 victory over Pioneer. Carbajal ended the week with 21 goals and five assists on the season for a team that had won all six of its matches.
Connor Grant, Menlo School swimming: The senior won the 500 free in a CCS qualifying time of 4:46.52 and the 200 individual medley in 2:03.64 at the West Bay Athletic League Jamboree 3 at Sacred Heart Prep. He has won all six of his races in six different events this season, in addition to seeming legs on CCS-qualifying relays.
Ethan Khaw, Sequoia tennis: Playing at No. 1 singles, the freshman won his matches against Capuchino 6-0, 6-0 and Mills 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, leading his team to victory in both. Mills was undefeated in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Ocean Division before losing to Sequoia 4-3.
AJ Minyard, Los Gatos baseball: The senior allowed one run while pitching a no-hitter with nine strikeouts as Los Gatos cruised to a 9-1 victory over Mountain View in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division play. Los Gatos began this week 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Ollie Obenour, Leigh baseball: In his team’s two-game sweep of Willow Glen, the senior hit two doubles and knocked in four runs. He also recorded saves in both games, pitching 2 2/3 innings with five strikeouts, as first-place Leigh improved to 5-1 in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division play.
Oliver Shrieve-Herzog, Berkeley volleyball: The senior had 13 kills on just 18 shots as Berkeley defeated Arroyo 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 in a West Alameda County Conference game. He began this week with a team-leading 108 kills.
Peter Thorn, Acalanes baseball: The 6-foot-4, 260-pound senior pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk as the Dons prevailed over Miramonte 1-0 in a nonleague game to improve to 11-0 on the season. Thorn threw 85 pitches, 53 for strikes, as he lowered ERA to 0.97.
Nathan Tichy, Pioneer baseball: The senior pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts as Pioneer defeated Branham 10-2 in BVAL Mt. Hamilton play. In the two-game sweep of Branham, he went 3 for 8 at the plate with four RBIs. Pioneer ended the week 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Grady Wachob, Benicia track and field: The junior finished first in the high jump at the prestigious Stanford Invitational, clearing the bar in a North Coast Section season-best 6-5 1/4. The mark ranks 10th-best in California this season, per Athletic.net.
