In CCTV footage of the incident in September 2021, David can be seen outside Hanley Pink nightclub, wearing a brown jacket.

He had earlier been refused entry to the club, where security guards are seen patrolling outside.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Wallbanks paces in an agitated manner up and down the busy street in the Burslem area, wearing a blue jacket.

It was later alleged that Wallbanks, 41, had become angry after someone threatened his 13-year-old son.

He seemingly attempts to reach David several times, but is restrained by several people, including a a man in a grey t shirt.

The scuffle attracts the attention of two security guards, two of which can be seen speaking to Wallbanks in the video released by Staffordshire Police.

He then strides up to David and delivers a heavy punch to the head.

David’s head is thrown back, before he falls to the floor unconscious.

Wallbanks can then be seen walking quickly out of the camera shot, while looking over his shoulder at the limp David.

In scenes not captured by the CCTV, the attacker then proceeded to run to a nearby car park.

Wallbanks pleaded guilty to the attack and was later jailed.

This month, he was also handed a nine-year extended sentence with six months in prison for the separate killing of Benjamin Grosvenor just two months later.

Wallbanks launched a similar, single punch attack on 30-year-old Ben, this time outside Hanley Reflex nightclub.

Ben never recovered and passed away two years later.

Wallbanks plead guilty to the killing.

After the sentencing hearing at Stafford Crown Court, Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, from Staffordshire Police, said: “Benjamin and his family have suffered immeasurably since November 2021 and I offer them my heartfelt condolences.

“A single punch, wielded by Wallbanks, has had devastating and fatal consequences.

“I hope that Wallbanks’ conviction and prison sentence bring some closure to friends and family of Benjamin as they continue to come to terms with their tragic loss.”
