Customers at a Wetherspoons had to be evacuated after the pub was hit by lightning during last night’s storms.
The Avion, in Aldridge in the West Midlands was struck around 7pm, setting off the pub alarms.
The fire brigade was called shortly after and all customers asked to leave the building.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed two fire engines and around 15 firefighters attended the scene.
A spokesperson said the premises were checked over with a thermal imaging camera, reports Birmingham Live.
Meanwhile, Aldridge Police, who also attended, wrote on X: ‘Aldridge went off with a bang this evening when lightening struck the Avion. Emergency services were called and pleased to confirm all customers evacuated, safe and well.’
Much of the UK was hit with heavy rain last night and this morning, with the Met office issuing a Yellow weather warning for large parts of England and Wales and a more severe Amber warning for parts of central and northern England.

The Environment Agency, meanwhile, issued flood warnings for large parts of England, including an orange ‘medium’ risk covering much of the central region relating to both river and surface water flooding.
The severe weather has caused various travel disruptions with several trains cancelled or delayed, and some roads closed.
