What we know so far about the Evergreen High School shooting

At least three people were injured Wednesday in a shooting outside Evergreen High School that drew hundreds of police and law enforcement officers after a 911 call reporting an active shooter. Here’s what we know so far about the shooting.

Where was the shooting?

The Sept. 10 shooting happened at Evergreen High School in Jefferson County, Colorado, at around 12:24 p.m.

How many are injured? And who are the victims?

At least 3 teens, including a suspected shooter, were being treated at CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood on Wednesday afternoon and were in critical condition, officials said.

Kevin Cullinan, president of CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, said it appeared there were no further victims from the shooting. He said all three of the people transported to the hospital from Evergreen High were teenagers.

Who is the suspect?

Law enforcement officials believe the shooter is one of the people being treated at CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.

It’s not clear whether the suspected shooter was struck by police or shot themself, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jacki Kelley said at a briefing Wednesday afternoon. The juvenile suspect is believed to be a student at the school, but no additional information about their identity was available.

Where should parents go?

Parents and guardians should not go to the high school because of ongoing police activity. A reunification area was set up at Bergen Meadow Elementary, 1928 S. Hiwan Drive.
