Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial – Always Remember: Two events: an informal ceremony at 6:45 a.m. (Beverly Hills Fire Department Headquarters, Fire Station 1, 445 N. Rexford Drive); and also an in-person and online Patriot Day remembrance, 5:30-6 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Memorial Garden (on the grounds of the Beverly Hills Fire Department, 445 N. Los Angeles Fire Department 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony: The event includes bagpipers, a helicopter flyover and LAFD Interim Fire Chief Ronnie Villanueva and Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Police Jim McDonnell ring “10-Bells” during the program, 9 a.m. Special guests include Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass; Los Angeles County Fire Department Fire Chief Anthony C. Pepperdine University – 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Waves of Flags: The university holds its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 9 a.m. Register in advance to attend the ceremony. The keynote speaker is actor Dennis Quaid, (narrator of the documentary film “Twin Towers: Legacy”) and the university’s Chancellor Sara Young Jackson and Pepperdine’s President and CEO Jim Gash will give remarks. The “Waves of Flags” display is up through Sept. 26 (until volunteers lower the flags beginning at 10 a.m. that Friday). Los Angeles Fire Department’s Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center: A display of a 23-ton and approximately 22-foot tall steel column that was originally part of the lobby structure at the south tower of the World Trade Center. Location, 1700 Stadium Way, Los Angeles.
Manhattan Beach Sept. 11 Memorial: The Manhattan Beach Fire Department received two steel beams from the World Trade Center. The beams are upright on a concrete platform where the words “We shall never forget” are inscribed. The 9/11 Memorial at Los Angeles Fire Department Station 88: The Memorial Fountain in front of the station has a 750-pound piece from the destroyed World Trade Center and a 100-pound piece of limestone from the Pentagon. Location, 5101 Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks.
