The shotgun allegedly used by the suspect in the assault on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been pictured for the first time.
Cole Tomas Allen is accused of trying to storm the glitzy Washington event with the weapon – as well as a handgun and multiple knives.
Officials say the 31-year-old was trying to enter the main ballroom of the Washington Hilton with the aim of targeting President Donald Trump and other top members of his administration.
Shortly after the dinner started on Saturday evening, shots were heard outside the room, prompting Secret Service agents to rush Trump, his wife Melania and Vice President JD Vance off the stage.
The suspect was allegedly brandishing the shotgun when he sprinted past security officials.
It was pictured on patterned carpet, which appeared to be the same floor where Allen himself was pictured lying topless and face down following his arrest.
A new photo taken immediately after his arrest shows Allen wrapped in a mylar blanket and sitting against a marble column.
