Attorney Frank Lizarraga is one of three current or former San Bernardino County elected officials whose homes were raided by the FBI this week.
A civil litigation attorney, Lizarraga is the former general counsel for the Southern California Association of Governments. He also served 13 years as an Ontario planning commissioner.
Lizarraga could not be reached for comment on this story.
Other locations raided on Tuesday included the home of Ontario City Councilman Alan Wapner and the Chino Hills district office of San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman. Warrants were served also at a business and home in West Covina affiliated with James Su, the founder and president of Chinese-language multimedia company EDI Media Inc.
Lizarraga received a bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of La Verne in 1980 before getting a law degree from Western State College of Law.
He later served on the board of trustees at the University of La Verne, chaired the university’s College of Law’s board of advisors and in 2020, endowed the dean of the university’s college of law.
“I am so proud of how well the college’s graduates are serving their local communities, and with this gift, I want to inspire my fellow established lawyers to support the college’s mission,” Lizarraga said at the time.
Lizarraga served 13 years in two separate stints on the Ontario Planning Commission. He also served as chairman of the board.
Wapner praised Lizarraga at the 2010 council meeting where his successor was appointed.
“You did a great job, and you do a lot for the community that people aren’t aware of,” Wapner said in July 2010.
