Wind advisory affecting Los Angeles County until Sunday night – gusts as high as 45 mph

Western Santa Monica Mountains Recreational area, Santa Susana Mountains, 5 Freeway corridor near Santa Clarita and Western San Gabriel Mountains/Highway 14 Corridor are under a wind advisory which was released by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 1:08 a.m. The advisory is valid between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

“Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected,” according to the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA. “Wet soils will increase the likelihood of damage.”

“Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. In addition, unsecured objects will be blown around,” the NWS said. “Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.”

Sustained, strong winds are possible. Secure loose outdoor items and adjust plans as necessary so you’re not caught outside.
