A wind-driven brush fire broke out in Acton Friday, April 3, and quickly grew to 250 acres while threatening structures, authorities said.
Los Angeles County firefighters were called to North Crown Valley Road and Soledad Canyon Road just before 11:25 a.m., arrived about 10 minutes later and quickly called for more resources, said Kaitlyn Aldana, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokeswoman.
The blaze broke out northwest of there in hilly terrain.
It wasn’t known how many structures, or what types of structures, were threatened by what is being called the Crown fire, she said.
Flames were getting pushed to the west by the winds with a moderate rate of spread, Aldana said.
The Roar Foundation/Shambala Preserve, a big cat animal sanctuary, sits two miles west of where the fire started, but it was not immediately known if it was threatened.
