COLORADO: Mona Shah and Joe Samagond of Fremont recently completed a memorable drive across Colorado. “We experienced a symphony of color, altitude and awe,” Joe said. “From the crisp, pine-scented air, the journey felt like an untamed invitation to embrace nature’s grandeur.” They made stops in Denver, Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, Glenwood Hot Springs, Aspen and Breckenridge. They especially loved the golden Aspens, the call of the elk and the profound stillness of the Continental Divide.
TRAVEL TIPS: Joe recommends booking a timed entry pass to enter the Rocky Mountains National Park on recreation.gov. Entries are just $2, become available a month or two in advance and sell quickly.
EGYPT: Wendy Walleigh and husband Rick Walleigh of Los Altos recently returned from Egypt and Jordan, where they viewed many sites that were between 2,000 and 5,000 years old. Said Wendy: “One of the most spectacular is Abu Simbel in Upper Egypt along Lake Nasser, near the Sudan border. It comprises the Temple for Ramses II and a Temple for his wife, Nefertiti. They were literally hewn from rocks surrounding them, with tombs and bas relief walls of figures below this entrance. The size of these outer statues is so impressive.”
