A woman who was shot earlier this month on a sidewalk in Austin died Thursday of her wounds, officials said.
An autopsy Saturday determined Shamyra Williams, 24, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which said Williams died Thursday.
About 10:25 p.m. on Sept. 19, police officers responded to a call of a person shot and found Williams, on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North Leamington Avenue, police said at the time.
She suffered a gunshot wound to head and two gunshots wound to the right arm, according to police, who said Williams was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she initially in critical condition, police said.
Area 4 detectives are investigating.
