Woman, 26, died falling on concrete nightclub stairs while walking to the toilet

Georgia Harry was on a night out in Liverpool in March when she fell down a set of stairs in Lost Bar on Seel Street

A ‘bubbly and fun’ 26-year-old woman died after slipping down nightclub stairs on her way to the toilet with her friend, an inquest has heard.

Georgia Harry was on a night out in Liverpool in March when she fell down a set of stairs in Lost Bar on Seel Street.

She was walking with her friend Michael Pollard to the club’s basement toilet, when her legs ‘went from beneath her’ and swung into the air.

She hit her head on the concrete floor as Michael held on to her arm as they were around six steps away from the bottom floor.

Witness Sean Moogan, who was not drinking at the time, said Georgia’s legs had swung to around the same height as his head.

Georgia, who works as a civil servant, was taken to Aintree Hospital and eventually transferred to the Walton Centre.

Georgia Harry was described by her mum as a ‘hard-working girl who loved to have fun’

She remained on life support for around a month until she died on April 13.

Her mum Nicola Poolton, paid tribute to her daughter who ‘fought until the end’.

She said: ‘She was a hard-working girl who loved to have fun with her friends and going on holidays. She was so sociable.

‘We were told on the night that they didn’t think she would make it through the night.

‘But when we turned off life support she survived for five days.’

The mum and daughter lived together with their two dachshunds Mabel and Maggie.

An obituary notice read: ‘Much loved daughter of Nicola and David. Georgia will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

‘To our darling daughter. We miss you the world our beautiful miracle. We love you the world and back.’

Georgia had an alcohol reading of 294, which is around three-and-a-half times the drink-driving limit.

A low level of ketamine was also found, according to a toxicology report.

A post mortem concluded her cause of death a result of an extensive brain injury caused by a fall.

Area Coroner for Liverpool and Wirral, Anita Bhardwaj, said: ‘More likely than not that Georgia has died from the injuries sustained from the fall.

‘From the evidence we have heard, there is nothing to suggest that it was nothing more than an accident.’
