A woman was stabbed to death and a man was shot Tuesday in an off-duty officer-involved shooting in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Paramedics responding about 2:20 p.m. to the 5600 block of West Leland Avenue found the woman stabbed to death and the man suffering from a gunshot wound, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. Both of their ages were not known.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, which investigates police shootings, said it responded to the scene and is investigating. The off-duty officer’s involvement in the shooting was unclear.
