A woman was fatally struck by roofing material during damaging storms Tuesday afternoon in Gary, Indiana.
Paula Plebanski, 58, was found by the Lake County Coroner’s Office around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot in the 5200 block of East Dunes Highway, the coroner’s office said.
Her death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries and was ruled an accident, officials said.
In Portage, Indiana, 86-year-old Leona Rice was killed in a home explosion just as severe storms were beginning to sweep through the area Tuesday. It remains unclear if storms directly contributed to the explosion.
