Two women created fake profiles on a cleaning service app, then used their access to homes to steal cash, jewelry and high-end purses, according to police.
30-year-old Nikol Quiroga and 49-year-old Sandra Aguillon, both Columbian nationals, were arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of grand theft on Sept. 30. They are suspected in multiple San Fernando Valley burglaries and posed as house cleaners to get into homes and burglarize them, the LAPD said in a news release.
Detectives recovered $50,000 in cash, jewelry, license plates and luxury handbags, alongside Wi-Fi jammers, burglary tools, cellphones, camouflaged trail cameras and GPS trackers from the suspects’ apartment and cars.
The name of the cleaning service app the women are accused of using was not provided. LAPD has been contacted for more information.
Police say they are seeking addtional victims and suspects, and say the women are part of a “larger transnational organized crime group.”
Authorities ask anyone with information related to the investigation to contact the LAPD Commercial Crimes Division, Major Theft Task Force, at 213-486-5920.
