Chicago police are looking for at least two men responsible for the armed robberies of three women, including two Sunday, prompting increased increased patrols in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The robbers, one carrying a gun, confronted and demanded jewelry from women who are alone on the street during the middle of the afternoon. The most recent robberies occurred Sunday between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. — in the 2200 block of North Halsted Street and in the 1800 block of North Larrabee Street, according to a community alert issued by police.
Last week, on Thursday, another woman was attacked in the 300 block of West Webster Street about 2:15 p.m.
One robber is described as being about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a heavyset build, wearing a gray ski mask, a black T-shirt and black pants. The other is described as being about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a black mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt and wielding a black gun, police said.
Chicago police confirmed that special attention has been placed in the area, including an increased patrol presence,Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43rd) said Monday.
