SUNNYVALE — Armed guards on Friday chased off would-be robbers who attempted to ram a stolen vehicle into a Sunnyvale business to heist some jewelry, according to police.
Robbers intentionally crashed a stolen vehicle around 3 p.m. Friday into a jewelry store in the 1000 block of E. El Camino Real, attempting to forcibly enter the shop and make away with valuable jewelry, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a news release.
The store’s armed guards reportedly confronted and chased off the unknown suspects, who then fled in another stolen vehicle, according to police.
It is unclear which jewelry store the robbers attempted to enter.
Police later found the stolen getaway vehicle unoccupied somewhere in Sunnyvale.
Police said the robbers did not rob the store of anything, and that no jewels or cash were taken, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the incident.
Anyone with information in the ongoing investigation can contact Detective Rosette at (408) 730-7110.
