Bears coach Ben Johnson wasn’t eager to take his shirt off to trigger a free hot dogs promotion at the Wiener’s Circle, but didn’t rule it out.
The Lincoln Park hot dog stand said if Johnson takes his shirt off during a game or a post-game speech in the locker room, it will give out free hot dogs, just as it did last month when quarterback Caleb Williams threw four touchdown passes against the Cowboys.
“That’s been mentioned,” Johnson said with a smirk Friday. “It’s a little disturbing. Why would we want to see that?”
When pressed on whether he wants Chicago to get free food, Johnson left the door open by saying, “Well, I’m a man of the people… so time will tell.”
Williams laughed about the offer, but wasn’t sure whether Johnson would be willing and wouldn’t encourage him to “take his shirt off for some hot dogs.”
“He’d do it in the locker room on a win,” wide receiver DJ Moore said.
Wiener’s Circle also offered a free hot dog day if any Bears offensive lineman or defensive player scores a touchdown on a designed offensive play this season as a shoutout to William “The Refrigerator” Perry.
Moore could see that happening with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter out of the backfield like Perry did for the Bears in the 1980s because at 6-foot-6, 326 pounds, Dexter is “a big-ass human being.”
