YouTube release Spotify Wrapped-style recap of what you watched this year

You can get a personalised verdict on what kind of viewer you are (Picture: YouTube/Metro)

You will soon be able to see what you watched most on YouTube this year, as the company is releasing personalised recaps for the first time.

The Spotify Wrapped-style data will show your top interests, how many videos from particular creators you watched, and even which personality type you fall into based on what you watch.

You may not necessarily want to be reminded of all the many hours you spent watching Peppa Pig (the UK’s most watched channel), or hamsters doing cardboard box obstacle courses, but soon you will find out anyway.

YouTube Recap launched in North America yesterday, and is set to roll out to the UK and elsewhere soon too.

How can I access my YouTube Recap?

To find it, just look at the homepage, or under the ‘You’ tab, but don’t get disheartened if it isn’t there yet, as it may just take a little more time.

YouTube said these were the topics which people wanted to watch most frequently in 2025.

Once Recap does roll out here, it will provide up to nine shareable ‘cards’ with your top channels, interests, viewing habit evolution, and ‘personality type’, such as Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, Philosopher and Dreamer.

Users who listened to music will also see Top Artists and Songs.

Roya Zeitoune, Head of YouTube Culture & Trends, EMEA, said: ‘The most striking insight from this year’s YouTube trends is the unprecedented alignment across different countries.

‘For the first time, countries are sharing many of the same cultural moments, from Squid Game to the rise of Labubu and KPop Demon Hunters, while still nurturing deeply personal and niche viewing journeys.

‘It shows how global and local culture now coexist seamlessly.’

Looking at the UK’s data this year specifically, YouTube said in their Year in Review: ‘While focus is on the undeniable growth of short-form video, something interesting has been happening: long-form content’s popularity has been thriving, too. Widespread discussion of dwindling attention spans does not seem to be merited on YouTube.’

British channels seeing a surge in subscriptions included Gary’s Economics, Madeline Argy, and Niko Omilana, who also appeared on the BBC’s Celebrity Traitors.

Spotify is also expected to release their highly anticipated annual Wrapped data today, as they usually do it on a Wednesday in late November or early December.

Yesterday, the company posted on X that users should make sure their app is updated, and ‘get excited for Wrapped Day’ as it is ‘on the way soon’.
