2 Dolphins Defenders Named as Popular Trade Targets Ahead of Deadline

The 2025 campaign hasn’t exactly gone the Miami Dolphins‘ way through six games, and heading into Week 7, they are on the verge of completely falling apart. With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the Dolphins are expected to be sellers, despite what head coach Mike McDaniel comes out and says.

Several of Miami’s veteran players are drawing interest ahead of the trade deadline, and if the team keeps on losing, the front office would be wise to move on from some of them before it’s too late. Ahead of Week 7, rumors are suggesting that a pair of Dolphins defenders have quickly emerged as trade candidates with the deadline drawing near.

Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips Drawing Trade Interest

With the Dolphins staring down the barrel at a potential rebuild, trading away some players for draft capital would be a wise decision by the front office. If the team does sell at the deadline, Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips are both reportedly drawing quite a bit of trade interest across the league.

Both Chubb and Phillips are trade targets because of their ability to wreak havoc on defense. Through six games, Chubb has 15 tackles, four sacks, and one fumble forced, while Phillips has 10 tackles and one sack. Injury concerns exist with both of these guys, but when they are healthy and on the field, they are very productive.

Whereas Phillips is in the last year of his rookie deal, Chubb is under contract through 2027 at a fairly reasonable rate, especially given how he’s looked so far this season. With that in mind, reports have emerged indicating that the Dolphins have fielded quite a few calls on Chubb and Phillips over the past few days.

“The Dolphins are getting lots of calls on pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips,” Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported on Saturday.

Should the Dolphins Trade Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips?

The way things are trending for the Dolphins, they should consider trading pretty much anyone on their roster drawing interest. If they do decide to blow things up, Chubb will likely become too expensive for them to justify paying, and Phillips could end up leaving in free agency this upcoming offseason once his deal expires. With both guys garnering interest on the trade market, moving them while they still have value would likely be the front office’s best move.

Does that mean these guys are both guaranteed to get dealt? Absolutely not. Considering how both McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier still have jobs, it’s clear that team owner Stephen Ross isn’t exactly in a rush to blow things up and begin a rebuild (which appears to be the only plausible path forward for this team at this stage of the game). It’s clear that trading Chubb and Phillips makes sense for Miami, but whether or not the team will do that remains to be seen.
