“As of right now it is Breece Hall. Far too many fumbles last year and doesn’t create yards after contact,” a Jets fan explained.
A fan quickly responded, “Breece Hall and its not even close.”
“Breece. Can’t pick up tough yards,” a fan argued.
“Breece by a mile,” another fan added on.
There Is a Case to Be Made That Hall Is the Most Overrated Jet
Heading into the 2024 season, Hall was ranked the second-best running back in football. He was the No. 1-ranked running back under the age of 25.
That list was created by a 50+ person panel from ESPN based on conversations with league execs, coaches, and scouts.
“Hall is considered the game’s best running back under the age of 25, with big upside on Year 3 projections,” ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler revealed.
Before the season, Hall received a ton of hype and praise. He was a very common No. 1 overall pick in fantasy football drafts. The former Iowa State product crashed back down to Earth this past season.
Hall ranked 24th in rushing yards (876) and never seemed to flash the potential he displayed during his rookie season.
You can make a very strong case that he is overrated. There is constant chatter on social media about him being one of the top running backs in football, yet he has never rushed for 1,000 yards in his three-year career to date.
Expectations Are Low Heading Into the 2025 Season
After years of hype, Hall is now being overlooked and for good reason. Hall will have to prove it to himself, his teammates, and the media that he can be the man.
A new coaching staff has taken over on 1 Jets Drive. Hall is not going to be handed anything, pun intended, he will have to take advantage of his opportunities. If he doesn’t, Hall will reach unrestricted free agency in 2026 without much fanfare.
Head coach Aaron Glenn has mentioned on multiple occasions that he plans on using all three of his main running backs, which include Hall, Isaiah Davis, and Braelon Allen.
During his rookie season, Hall seemed destined to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. In Week 7, he blew out his ACL against the Denver Broncos and missed the rest of the season.
On occasion, Hall has shown flashes of that old player, but it hasn’t been consistent. It’s now or never for Hall. He is either going to prove he is the star running back that everyone saw back in 2022, or he is going to transform into a pumpkin and become a Jets afterthought for fans around the world.
