3M Open Purse: How Much Money Does the Winner Make?

The winner of the 2025 3M Open will earn $1.512 million in prize money as part of an $8.4 million purse. The PGA Tour tournament is being played from July 24 to July 27 at the TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Thorbjorn Olesen and Akshay Bhatia shared the lead entering the final round of the tournament on Sunday, but Kurt Kitayama jumped out to a lead early on. Jake Knapp, Matt Wallace and William Mouw were among the others chasing Kitayama on the back 9 of the fourth round.

“Yesterday’s round felt like I didn’t have any control. I hit some balls after, talked to my coach, Chris Como, and kind of worked through some things on the range. Felt like I found something that I could go with. And warming up today, felt pretty good and it kind of showed on the course. Yeah, was happy I was able to find that,” Kitayama told reporters on Saturday. “Working with my coach, Chris Como. He’s really improved my driving. I feel like I’m hitting it straighter and just more comfortable pulling out driver on holes I would never have hit driver on and I think that’s been the key.”

Kitayama, who won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2023, talked about what has changed in his game since his first career win, saying, ” I think overall probably more complete, more consistent ball-striker. You know, just feel more comfortable over shots, tough shots, feel more comfortable hitting the hard shot. I’d say that’s the biggest thing.”

Knapp, who also has one career win on the PGA Tour (the Mexico Open in 2024), told reporters on Saturday, “I think it’s probably going to be windy again most likely and there’s probably going to be somebody who goes out in the morning and shoots something crazy low. So if there’s a number posted early on, then maybe that will kind of be in your head obviously of what you have to go and get. But for the most part I think a lot of the same from today, just give myself a lot of opportunities and hopefully make a few more putts.”
