$46 Million Star PGA Tour Golfer Dealt Brutal News Amid Arnold Palmer Invitational

The Arnold Palmer Invitational may not be a major, but it is one of the more anticipated PGA Tour events of the year. One star golfer received some brutal news and finds himself outside the Arnold Palmer field.

After the Cognizant Classic, the PGA Tour announced four golfers who were on the bubble will not be playing at Bay Hill. Fan favorite Tony Finau headlines this unfortunate list who will be watching the Arnold Palmer from home.

Additionally, Haotong Li, Stephan Jaeger and Kevin Roy also missed the Arnold Palmer field. It was not all bad news as several golfers learned their performance at the Cognizant Classic earned them a trip to Orlando.

Fresh off a win at the Cognizant Classic, Nico Echavarria is in the Arnold Palmer field. Austin Smotherman, Taylor Moore, Keith Mitchell and fan-favorite Joel Dahmen were also late additions to Bay Hill.

Jordan Spieth and Max Gresyerman both received sponsor exemptions to play in the Arnold Palmer as well.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest PGA Tour golf news.

Tony Finau Has Earned $46 Million During His PGA Tour Career

Finau is one of the more popular golfers on the PGA Tour and has already amassed more than $46 million during his career. The golfer is still searching for his first major win.

These earnings are about to be even higher as Finau announced a new partnership with Jordan Brand back in January. It is a perfect partnership as Finau is often spotted during PGA Tour events wearing Jordans.

“Excited to be part of the @jumpman23 family,” Finau detailed in a January 15, Instagram post. “Let’s work.”

Arnold Palmer Odds: Scottie Scheffer Is a Massive Favorite to Win the API at +340

Despite Finau’s absence, fans will still be treated to a star-studded tournament at Bay Hill. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Scottie Scheffler is a massive favorite in the Arnold Palmer golf odds.

Scheffler enters the tournament as the favorite to win the Arnold Palmer at +340, per DraftKings. Other notable favorites include Rory McIlroy who is a distant second at +980 but has consistently played well in Orlando. Tommy Fleetwood (+1800) and Xander Schauffele (+2050) are also listed among the favorites at Bay Hill.

PGA Tour Golfers Looking Ahead to The Players

While everyone is locked in to seeing who will win the Arnold Palmer, there is already anticipation for The Players which will take place the following weekend. Defending Arnold Palmer champion Russell Henley views The Players as golf’s unofficial fifth major.

“I think it’s a major,” Henley told reporters on March 3. “It’s our home tournament. I don’t know the statistics on like what they say, like best field in golf or whatever, but, I mean, it is. And the history with that tournament?

“I mean, I’ve always considered that a major in my mind. It’s just such a tricky golf course and it rewards great shots, typically. It visually is very intimidating. I feel like if you have a good week there you’ve done a lot of really good things.”
