49ers Get Bad Update Before Browns Game in Week 13

The San Francisco 49ers have won back-to-back games and will look to make it three straight when they travel to the state of Ohio for a matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Nonetheless, the Niners might have to worry about more than just the Browns’ defense, which features Myles Garrett, who has recorded seven sacks in his last two games.

In the Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers, the 49ers’ Brock Purdy struggled as he recorded three interceptions. Moreover, the November 30 matchup between the Browns and 49ers will be played in windy conditions.

Additionally, morning rain showers are likely to turn into snow by the afternoon. The high will reach around 39 degrees, with southwest winds between 25 and 35 miles per hour and stronger gusts possible. Finally, there is a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

The weather will present a challenge for Purdy, who is looking for a bounce-back performance against the Browns. In the win over the Panthers, he completed 23 of 32 pass attempts for 193 passing yards, along with one touchdown and three interceptions.

49ers’ Kyle Shanahan Talks Weather Against Browns

Moreover, on November 28, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media about the weather for this game against Cleveland, citing previous experience to help them prepare.

“I mean, last time we went they had a really good defense and this time they have a really good defense, if not better,” Shanahan said (h/t 49ers Web Zone). “The rain wasn’t great then. It’ll probably be worse now. So, we’ve got to be prepared for it. It’s like that this time of the year and hopefully we’ll get lucky with weather, but we’re assuming the worst.”

It will be interesting to see if the Niners decide to lean on the run game even more in this contest, not only with Christian McCaffrey but also with Brian Robinson Jr. getting more touches. Nonetheless, Shanahan admitted that the passing game won’t be an afterthought despite the weather.

“Can’t give you our secrets, but we’re going to air it out, throwing it every play,” Shanahan added. “The harder it rains, the more we’re going to throw.”

49ers Will Look to Stop Shedeur Sanders

Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh faces the challenge of containing Shedeur Sanders and the Browns’ offense. With injuries limiting his unit, he’ll be looking for a repeat of the strong showing on “Monday Night Football” when they take the field in Cleveland.

“He’s a good, young quarterback,” Saleh said of Sanders on November 26 (h/t 49ers Web Zone). “He’s mobile, he’s got a big arm, tremendous confidence. He made a couple of really, really good throws in the game against Vegas, extending plays, getting out of the pocket, delivering the ball where it needed to be delivered.

“Obviously, he showed good command of the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. You anticipate someone like him, who’s got that confidence, who has that skill set, he’s just going to get better and better every week.”

Sanders had a decent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, so it will be interesting to see whether the 49ers’ defense can give him a more difficult time.
