76ers Get Clarity on Anthony Edwards Before Timberwolves Clash

Following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Thursday night loss against the Detroit Pistons, Anthony Edwards and his team are traveling to face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, April 3.

Will the superstar guard be available for the matchup?

The Timberwolves couldn’t say just yet. Heading into the Timberwolves-Pistons game, Minnesota scratched Edwards from the lineup for multiple reasons.

After the Timberwolves’ 113-108 defeat, Minnesota head coach Chris Finch was asked for clarity on Edwards’ absence.

On the injury report, Edwards was listed for a knee-related injury and an illness.

Finch made it clear that the latter concern was the bigger issue, which ultimately held Edwards out from Thursday’s action.

Will it make a difference for Friday’s game against the Sixers? The Timberwolves haven’t hit Edwards with an official status, and won’t have to until Friday afternoon.

Similar to the Timberwolves, the Sixers are fighting for a top-six spot in their respective conference.

Heading into the matchup with the 76ers, the Timberwolves hold a 46-30 record. They are in good standing, considering the Phoenix Suns are 42-35 on the year, and trailing by 4.5 games.

On the other side, the Sixers are 42-34 on the year, winning seven of their last 10 games. The Sixers are sixth in the Eastern Conference, but hold the same record as the Toronto Raptors, who are in seventh. Meanwhile, the fifth-seeded Hawks have a 1.5-game lead over the 76ers.

With or without facing Anthony Edwards, the Sixers are in a challenging spot. They could be without their star center, Joel Embiid. The veteran big man is on the injury report, listed as doubtful due to an illness.

Soon, the Sixers will find out Edwards’ status as well.
