Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby is once again at the center of trade speculation — and this time, it’s his own social media activity that has fans talking. After another heartbreaking loss dropped the Raiders to 2-6 on the season, Crosby shared a cryptic message that many fans interpreted as a possible sign he could be ready to move on.
With the NFL trade deadline set for Tuesday, November 4, at 4:00 p.m. ET, the timing of Crosby’s post — and the Dallas Cowboys’ ongoing search for defensive help — has added more fuel to the fire.
Maxx Crosby’s Cryptic Post Sparks Cowboys Trade Buzz
After the Raiders’ latest loss, a 30-27 overtime defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Crosby took to X and posted a cryptic message with some taking it as a goodbye to Las Vegas.
“Raider Nation I Love Yall With Everything In My Heart & Soul,” Crosby posted on X. “Yall Deserve Better. Stay As One, It Will Change.”
The comment section was flooded with Cowboys fans practically recruiting him in real time. “Start looking at homes in Dallas, big bro,” one fan wrote. Another added, “This is your goodbye. Welcome to Dallas!”
Crosby, 28, has been one of the league’s most dominant pass rushers since entering the NFL in 2019. He’s a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro who has racked up more than 60 sacks in his career, including five this season. Despite his production and leadership, Las Vegas has refused to commit to a full rebuild, leaving veterans like Crosby frustrated amid the team’s ongoing struggles.
“The Raiders have been adamant that Crosby isn’t for sale,” Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein reported. “But one NFC talent evaluator said the door is still ajar. ‘I still think for the right price, Crosby could be on the move,’ the evaluator said. ‘First and a pick swap, most likely.’”
Jerry Jones Confirms Trade Activity, Focus on Defense
Speaking on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on SiriusXM on Monday, November 3, Jerry Jones revealed that the Cowboys made a trade before their “Monday Night Football” game against the Arizona Cardinals.
“A lot of action going on right now in terms of trading,” Jones said, via veteran Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr. “We certainly have made a trade and we may make a couple more trades before that deadline. We’ve made one. We possibly could make two more, and I’m going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow.”
Jones also hinted that the move addressed the team’s biggest weakness.
“Immediately it will have them on the field and it will address some of the things that have been our shortcomings,” he said. “It’s on defense.”
Dallas (3-4-1) entered Week 9 ranked second-to-last in defensive EPA per play, a shocking drop for a team that traded away Micah Parsons before the season. Adding a player like Crosby would immediately strengthen the Cowboys’ pass rush and leadership on defense.
Crosby is under contract through 2026 after signing a four-year, $98.9 million extension with the Raiders in 2022. The deal makes him one of the highest-paid defensive players in football, but his elite production and relentless motor have made him worth every penny.
If the Cowboys want to make a real push for the playoffs, pairing Crosby with Dallas’ current rotation could instantly transform the defense. Still, with the Raiders reportedly demanding at least a first-round pick, it remains to be seen whether Jones is willing to meet that price before the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday.
