Aidan Hutchinson Sends Clear Message to Lions Doubters

The Detroit Lions aren’t exactly where they were hoping to be at this point in the season, with a 6-4 record, and they’ve fallen to No. 3 in the NFC North, but it certainly could be worse. Still, considering that many thought the Lions would be the No. 1 team in the NFL this season, there are plenty of naysayers out there for are counting them out.

The team fell from No. 6 to No. 8 in ESPN’s weekly power rankings heading into Week 12 after their 16-9 loss to the Eagles. So, the pressure is on, and they know that they have to pull off consecutive wins if they want to finally fulfill this franchise’s dream of getting to the big game, let alone winning it.

But, you know who isn’t sweating the heat? Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. While meeting with the press this week, he sent a clear message about the Lions and where they stand.

Aidan Hutchinson Speaks Out About the Detroit Lions

Speaking with reporters this week, the star defensive end said that he’s not worried for the Detroit Lions as they head into the final stretch of the season. In fact, he likes where they’re at.

“We’re 6-4 right now, I think people have written us off a little bit, and I think it’s a good spot to be in,” he said. “I’m excited and I think these next three home games, we’ve got to be 3-0. It starts with New York on Sunday.”

When the Detroit Lions go up against the New York Giants, they’ll be wearing all black. The team announced on Tuesday, November 18, that they’ll be sporting their all-black uniforms, the Motor City Muscle uniforms, for the Giants matchup. The uniforms feature a black background with the team’s characteristic Honolulu blue.

The look seems to be fan-approved. “We’re winning every game for the rest of the season,” one commenter said on social media after the announcement was made. “For the Giants tho? Should save this for Cowboys or Steelers,” another said.

Where the Detroit Lions Are in the NFL

Heading into the Lions’ game against the Giants this weekend, ESPN says the person under the most pressure is offensive coordinator John Morton. “Morton was stripped of his play calling duties after a Week 9 loss to the Vikings, and he might have to fight to secure a long-term role with the Lions,” Eric Woodyard of ESPN notes in the feature.

Woodyard adds that back “in 2024, Detroit led the NFL with 33.2 points per game under former OC Ben Johnson, and Morton was given the tall order of following the current Bears coach.”

Well, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell will be calling the plays going forward. That shouldn’t be a problem against the deflated Giants, who are without any of their star players right now due to injury, but it could be more difficult down the road. Either way, it’s always exciting to see a home game at Ford Field, and even more so when the Detroit Lions are decked out in their special black uniforms.
