Analyst: Eagles Could ‘Rescue’ $160 Million All-Pro From Awful Team

They’ve tried and failed to bring him to Philadelphia before, but some believe the Eagles could try to push all their chips in for Browns edge Myles Garrett in 2026.

It wouldn’t come out of nowhere, either.

Back in February of 2025, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said on her Scoop City podcast that general manager Howie Roseman was looking to make a “big swing” and specifically tied that swing to a potential move for Garrett.

Then, later in the fall, Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson poured gasoline all over that particular fire when, just before the trade deadline, he told 102.5 The Game that Roseman and the Eagles were “super hot after Myles Garrett” and would be willing to give up “like, three first-round picks” to get him.

Will Philly try to pry him away from Cleveland in 2026? Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay thinks they might, and he put together a trade proposal he believes would “rescue” Garrett from Cleveland.

Huge Eagles Trade Proposal Would Bring Myles Garrett to Philadelphia

Kay believes Garrett’s desire to compete for and win a Super Bowl might make the defensive end consider Philly next year.

“Although Garrett has at least made a pair of playoff appearances during his first eight years in the league—and even helped the Browns win a wild-card contest in 2020, the organization’s lone postseason victory since 1994—it’s all but guaranteed he’s going to miss out again in 2025,” Kay wrote.

“With Cleveland having far more questions than answers at the quarterback position and trending towards another rebuild after this lost season, it’s past time a competitive organization swoops in and save Garrett from this miserable situation.”

Here’s the trade proposal Kay put together:

“If the Eagles continue to struggle and crash out of the playoffs early, Garrett would be the perfect addition to help this squad return to prominence in 2026,” Kay added. “It would likely cost Philadelphia something in the neighborhood of the trio of firsts it was rumored to be interested in giving up, but the prospects acquired from those late-in-the-round choices would have a tough time collectively making anywhere close to the impact Garrett would on the organization.”

There’s No Doubt Garrett Would Be a Game-Changer

Put simply, Garrett is one of the defining edge rushers of his era. Through Week 11 of the 2025 season, he has 117.5 career sacks, 391 total tackles and 21 forced fumbles, along with six Pro Bowl selections and a 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

He’s still wrecking games at 29, he currently leads the league with 15 sacks in his first 10 games of 2025. By the time the 2026 season kicks off, he’ll be 30 years old.

Despite all of Garrett’s dominance, the Browns have reached the postseason just twice during his tenure. That limited experience playing in January helped fuel his trade request early in 2025, when he publicly said he wanted a realistic shot at a Super Bowl before eventually reversing course and signing a record extension.

After his offseason trade request, Garrett and the Browns agreed to a four-year extension worth about $160 million, with roughly $122–123 million guaranteed.

The deal includes a no-trade clause and, when combined with the remaining years on his old contract, effectively ties him to Cleveland through 2030 while making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Any team acquiring him in 2026 would be inheriting massive cap hits deep into the decade.

If there’s one team who could realistically pull this off, it’s the Eagles. “Roseman reportedly tried to trade for Garrett last offseason, and now it also appears that he did again at the trade deadline. Pretty good chance he tries again next offseason,” Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice wrote on November 5.

Time will tell, but if Garrett does eventually get traded, Philly could be the most logical landing spot.
