Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal as Paris Saint-Germain outclassed Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

PSG took the lead on four minutes with Dembele starting and finishing the move – driving through the middle and finding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – who cut the ball back for his unmarked teammate to fire in a first-time shot.

Mikel Merino thought he’d levelled things up for Arsenal early into the second half after glancing his header into the bottom corner from a superb Declan Rice free-kick but it was rightly chalked off by VAR for offside.

Chances for both sides came and went with Gianluigi Donnarumma producing a remarkable save to deny Leandro Trossard before Goncalo Ramos hit the crossbar for the visitors but no more goals followed.

It means Arsenal will now head into the Champions League semi-final second leg in Paris 1-0 behind when the sides meet again on May 7.
