Nicolas Pepe has agreed a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, bringing to an end a largely unsuccessful four-year stint with Arsenal.
The Ivory Coast international has agreed terms on a short-term deal which only runs until next summer and travels to Turkey for a medical on Friday, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The winger arrived at Arsenal from Lille in 2019 for an incredible sum of £72m after a couple of good seasons in Ligue 1, but he never really replicated that form in the Premier League.
Pepe went on to make 112 appearances for the Gunners over the next three seasons in all competitions, scoring 27 goals, before falling completely out of contention under Mikel Arteta.
He was sent out on loan to Nice last season, making 28 appearances and scoring eight goals but the French club had no interest in signing him on a permanent deal.
The Ivorian’s contract with Arsenal runs until 2024 and there was the possibility that the club would cancel the deal if a new club did not come in for him.
However, the interest from Turkey has saved them paying up his contract, even if they will only receive a nominal fee for the player, if anything at all.
