Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was forced off with a suspected groin injury during Brazil’s friendly against Senegal on Saturday.

The 27-year-old limped off in the 64th minute of the game at the Emirates Stadium and was seen pointing to the inside of his right thigh during a conversation with Brazil’s medical team.

Goals from Chelsea’s Estevao and Manchester United midfielder Casemiro sealed Brazil’s 2-0 victory.

Brazil are due to play Tunisia in another friendly in Lille on Tuesday but it is highly likely that Gabriel will not be risked.

Arsenal will be hopeful that Gabriel will be available for their next Premier League match, which is the north London derby against Tottenham next Sunday.

Mikel Arteta already has another defensive injury concern as Riccardo Calafiori withdrew from Italy’s squad on Saturday due to a hip injury.

‘He tried, and we thank him for the professionalism, desire, and dedication he’s shown, which is good for us as a group,’ said Italy head coach Gennaro Gattuso.

‘We could have made him grit his teeth, but that’s not fair because he’ll have matches every three or four days.’

Arsenal currently sit four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
