Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has named the ‘only thing’ that can stop Arsenal winning the Premier League title this term in a new claim.
The Gunners have made a fine start to the season and sit top of the top-flight table after the opening seven games of the 2025-26 campaign.
Arsenal have finished second the last three seasons in a row but many pundits, including Gary Neville, believe they’ll get the job done this time.
But Carragher says his former club Liverpool, who are currently second and one point behind Mikel Arteta’s team, could still end up on top this term.
Liverpool are the current champions of England and Carragher also feels Manchester City shouldn’t be written off either.

‘The only thing that can stop [Arsenal] is the same thing that has stopped other teams in the past,’ Carragher said on the Stick to Football podcast.
‘You get to March or April and you want it so much. The supporters want it so much. At the moment, Liverpool aren’t themselves.
‘Arsenal have the best squad. They’re looking better than Liverpool right now. Liverpool might take a few months to integrate new players.
‘They’ll come back. I think what [Manchester United] used to do, I think Alex Ferguson used to say if you’re three or four points off the leaders going into January or February…’
Fellow football pundit and ex-United defender Neville then jumped in and said: ‘Especially with a team that hasn’t won it as well.’
‘Exactly,’ Carragher added. ‘If Liverpool can find themselves five or six points behind in February… I think Liverpool will get better.
‘I don’t think the points they have on the board they deserve for their performances in some ways.
‘There will still be moments before Christmas where they drop points when you don’t expect it.
‘But Arsenal will drop points. That’s football. If Liverpool, and Man City, could do the same thing Ferguson’s United did, [they could win the title].’
Liverpool have been in woeful form in recent weeks, losing their last three games in a row across all competitions.
The Reds won their opening five Premier League games of the season but suffered back-to-back top-flight defeats to Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
Arne Slot’s men were also beaten 1-0 in the Champions League by Turkish club Galatasaray.
Liverpool host arch rivals United in their next match on October 19 while Arsenal face a trip to Fulham the day before.
