Arsenal face an anxious wait to discover if William Saliba will be fit for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates.
The Frenchman was forced off during the Europa League last-16 defeat to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday with a back issue.
Saliba’s removal came after Takehiro Tomiyasu was forced off with a knee injury, that appears far more serious.
The Japan international left the Emirates on crutches and Mikel Arteta confirmed afterwards that the defender had suffered a ‘serious’ injury.
On what was a dismal night for the Gunners, Gabriel, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard all suffered knocks as Arsenal were knocked out of Europe.

The good news is that that trio are winning the race to be fit for Sunday’s must-win game against the Eagles.
While Tomiyasu is definitely out, Saliba will be assessed on Sunday morning before a decision is made about the Frenchman.
With an international break after Sunday’s match, Arteta will be in two minds to risk Saliba given how crucial he is to Arsenal’s back four.
Palace will be manager-less for their visit to the Emirates after sacking Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.
