Steph Curry added the title of bestselling author to his growing resume following the release of his book called “Shot Ready” back in September. The Golden State Warriors superstar went all in on the promotion for it, including a stunning billboard stunt in Los Angeles.
Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, showed her support by sharing the finished product of the billboard ad on Instagram. She also dropped a message to promote the book about Steph’s philosophy behind his success in basketball and life.
“The coolest thing ever,” Ayesha wrote.
The billboard ad features Steph’s iconic shooting form, which was made to align with the moon above Los Angeles. The finished product looked like the Warriors icon was shooting the moon like a basketball.
“Success may not look like the way you expect, but it’s attainable for all of us when the rigor of our preparations meets the urgency of the moment. That’s what it means to be shot ready,” Steph said on the ad.
According to Steph’s official Facebook account, “Shot Ready” became an instant New York Times bestseller. It even came as high as the No. 2 spot on Amazon’s bestsellers list for sports autobiographies.
Steph’s Team Hired Creative Agency for Billboard Ad
Steph Curry went all out for the release and promotion of “Shot Ready” by hiring the creative agency called Known. They are didn’t spare any details in preparation for the billboard ad. They hired Albert Izard, an astrophysicist, to perfectly align the billboard with the moon’s movement for three days.
“We set out to manifest Steph’s philosophy beyond the page and beyond the basketball court—on an even bigger scale. Known’s science and creative teams worked together to engineer a massive image of Steph timed perfectly to literally shoot the moon—November’s supermoon, to be exact. Because when preparation meets the moment, something extraordinary happens. That’s what it means to be ‘Shot Ready,’” Mark Feldstein of Known said, via AdAge.com.
The book was published by Random House on September 9. It remains available around the world in a hardbound copy, eBook and audiobook.
Steph’s Motivation to Write a Book
While Steph Curry turned into one of the greatest players of all time, he wasn’t a top prospect out of high school. Curry carved out his place in college basketball with his shooting explosions at Davidson. His performances in the national tournament garnered him enough exposure to get drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2009.
However, his early years in Golden State were hampered by ankle problems. He finally had his breakout campaign in 2013, when he stole the show at Madison Square Garden. Fast forward to 12 years later, he has led the Warriors to four NBA championships. He also won two NBA MVPs and one NBA Finals MVP.
According to his interview on “TODAY” last September, Curry’s main motivation for publishing “Shot Ready” was his desire to inspire people with his philosophy. He was a gifted shooter, but he also had an insane work ethic that propelled him past the expectations of a lot of people.
At the age of 37, Steph remains one of the best players in the world. He’s still an elite player and is averaging 28.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
