Davis is part of the Beeb’s expert punditry team for the World Championships from Sheffield.
The 67-year-old is still happy to show off his skills on the baize when the chance arises.
And he was the first to grab the cue and attempt to replicate a remarkable shot played by Shaun Murphy during his match with Judd Trump.
Murphy left fans purring with a stunning escape to get out of a tricky snooker.
The Magician had used the bottom cushion to spin around the black and back up the table to hit the lone remaining red.
Davis was tasked with showing viewers how the Masters champion had achieved the shot.
But he hadn’t anticipated the difficulty – with the curse of live TV doing the rest.
Davis horribly miscued his first effort, quickly replacing the cue ball to take another go.

That second attempt was similarly botched, leaving host Richi Persad in stitches.
A fuming Davis plonked his cue on the table in a huff before turning his back on the camera.
Attempting to save the broadcast, Persad quipped: “I am trying to stay focused.
“We are going back to a very important match, Shaun Murphy and Judd Trump.
“We will have a third go shall we? What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.”
Davis refused to turn around, shaking his head and firing back: “I’d rather run the [London] Marathon.”
