Bears Star WR Leaves in Ambulance After Win Over Commanders: Report

The Chicago Bears might have gotten the win over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football, but their night seems to have ended on a bad note.

According to beat reporter Herb Howard, Bears star wide receiver DJ Moore “left the stadium in an ambulance” following the team’s 25-24 victory over the Commanders.

While Howard did not provide any context as to why Moore left in an ambulance, he added that Bears wide receiver coach Antwaan Randle El rode along with him.

Moore did not appear to suffer any noticeable injury during Monday night’s game, as he played until the end of the game and was seen smiling on the field with his teammates in the postgame. The 28-year-old wideout caught three of his five targets for 42 yards and took two carries for 10 yards in the 25-24 walkoff victory over the Commanders.

According to The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs, the Bears have announced that Moore will stay overnight in the Washington, D.C. area for “precautionary medical attention.”

DJ Moore Has Started 2025 Quietly in New Offense

Moore is still one of the Bears‘ top playmakers on offense, but his numbers through the first five games of the 2025 season do not reflect that of a high-end No. 1 wide receiver — even though Moore is hardly to blame for the relative dropoff in his total production.

Moore has caught 19 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown on 26 targets for Chicago through the first six weeks, securing at least three receptions in all five games but also failing to exceed 70 receiving yards in any of them. He has also logged eight carries for 25 yards, working mostly ineffectively as a change-of-pace option for the backfield.

The Bears have struggled with consistency on offense, though. Penalties have killed them at times, threatening to do so again in their narrow win over the Commanders. They have also experienced some natural growing pains with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams learning the ins and outs of head coach Ben Johnson’s new offense.

Even when the offense is operating as intended, though, Moore’s usage could vary from game to game. The Bears have a generous volume for pass-catching playmakers on their roster between wideouts Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Olamide Zaccheaus and tight ends Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland.

Veteran running back D’Andre Swift is also deserving of at least a few targets per game, as he reinforced with his 55-yard touchdown catch against the Commanders in Week 6.

DJ Moore Not Only Injury Concern for Bears After Win

While Moore’s worrisome trip to the hospital will naturally draw the most attention, the Bears also have another injury concern coming out of their win over the Commanders.

During the second quarter, Bears linebacker Noah Sewell sustained a blow to his head — in an accidental collision with teammate Jonathan Ford — that left him down on the field for the length of an injury timeout. He managed to walk off under his own power, but he headed into the locker room with team trainers before the end of the first half.

The Bears then ruled out Sewell with a concussion early in the third quarter.

While the recovery time from concussions can vary, Sewell will need to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol to have a chance at playing against the New Orleans Saints next Sunday in Week 7’s matchup. That will add to the Bears‘ worries coming out of the win.
